Lydia Tan founded the initiative, Hashtag Sharp, that aims to provide free music class for youths in Singapore who do not have the means to learn music. It also uses music as a common language for a mentoring opportunity. The initiative aims to not only give youths from low to middle-low income families, but also to teach life through the mentors.

She has managed to receive the support of Play By Ear Music School (Singapore) who has generously donated 11 keyboards for the programme.
